The Ulster Museum, located in the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, has around 8,000 square metres of public display space, featuring material from the collections of fine art and applied art, archaeology, ethnography, treasures from the Spanish Armada, local history, numismatics, industrial archaeology, botany, zoology and geology. It is the largest museum in Northern Ireland, and one of the components of National Museums Northern Ireland

Storage Systems Limited won a large tender to design, supply and install a storage solution to house all the museum artwork collections & paintings. Bruynzeel Museum storage racks was chosen as the perfect solution for the storage of their valuable and irreplaceable artwork collections.

This installation comprises of 40m of wall fixed Artestore Mesh Picture Racks 2m high for the storage of temporary artwork collections and 7 blocks of Artestore Penda pull out picture racks which operate by pull out painting frames suspended from existing steel supports consisting of overhead tracks and mesh frames.

Pull-out picture racks have the advantage that the paintings are easily accessible while the space is very efficiently utilised. To view a painting, only one picture rack need be moved. The Ulster Museum are delighted with the picture racking installed by Storage Systems Limited.
